THE KIDS FINALLY GRADUATE

THE KIDS FINALLY GRADUATE!

The Degrassi kids graduate from high school, with Lucy as class valedictorian, along with Caitlin who took extra classes in order to graduate a year early. The graduation scenes are cross cut with scenes of Joey buying a diamond ring.

There's a huge graduation party at Lucy's house and everybody's there - and not just the graduates either - Tessa, Yick, Joey and some others who have another year of high school join in the fun. There are beer bottles permanently attached to everyone. Broncho is wandering around with Lucy's camera catching the entire party. Alexa is running around showing everyone her engagement ring, and Lucy is pretty cynical the wedding. She tells others, "How can they get married, when they haven't even ahd sex yet?"

Wheels enjoys teasing Snake and Joey about their virginity, as he lost his recetly. Snake has high aspirations for finding a girlfriend as he has a summer job as a lifeguard. Joey gives Caitlin the ring as a graduation present and then proposes to her. She turns him down as she feels she cannot make such a decision at that time, however she is in love with him and she does see herself married to Joey. Joey leaves the party as he's pretty upset. On his way to the car he runs into Tessa who is also leaving the party as she and her boyfriend have had a fight. Joey gives her a lift home, and Tessa kisses him before getting out of the car. Joey after an initial suprise, kisses back.

SUMMER HAPPENINGS FOR THE DEGRASSI GRADS

Caitlin starts to second-guess her decision to go away to College, in favour of staying with Joey and getting married. She decides to go away, but feels she has to explain herself more to Joey, and plans to do so the following day.

Tessa accidently on purpose runs into Joey at the drugstore where he works, and asks him out. He's still feeling pretty upset with Caitlin, and he finds Tessa pretty, so he says yes. Just as she's walking out, Caitlin walks in and explains that she still really likes him, but she's not ready to get married - she wants their relationship to go back to normal. Joey says yeah, and she leaves.

Snake's first day as a lifeguard is not exactly what he had hoped. He falls in the pool while trying to impress some girls, and the only girls who are interested are like ten years old.

Wheels buys an old beaten up car and plans to spend the summer fixing it up, at the garage where he works. Joey helps him tow the car to the garage and Joey tells Wheels about his date with Tessa. Wheels doesn't think it's a good idea, but doesn't harp on the fact. They down some beer.

Joey and Tessa have a lot of fun on their first date. They seem to be more compatible in a lot of ways than Joey and Caitlin. They end up getting into it pretty heavily - third base as Joey later explains to Wheels.

Tessa and Spike are working at a one hour photo lab, where Alexa and Simon often visit with photos from enagagement parties and wedding showers. Spike tries to give Tessa some advice about Joey - "he and Caitlin have been breaking up and getting back together for years", but Tessa's not really interested.

Caitlin and Joey find it hard to spend time together due to conflicting work schedules. Tessa calls Joey and asks him out again. He says yes, and goes to her house where she plans to cook him dinner. Well, dinner is a bit of a disaster, but the date isn't - Tessa and Joey end up having sex.

The next day at thegarage, Joey shares the his news with Snake and Wheels. Wheels congratulates him, but Snake is not impressed with the two timing Caitlin and Tessa thing. Joey and Wheels both tease Snake about his virginity.

The summer passes by with Joey sleeping with Tessa while still dating Caitlin, Wheels working on his car and drinking beer, and with Snake getting more and more frustrated as his luck doesn't change and the guys continue to tease him. It's really starting to get to him.

Caitlin finally decides she's waited long enough and plans to have sex with Joey on his birthday, after asking Lucy for a bit of advice.

Snake frustration turns to anger as he gets cut with Wheels for drinking all the time and with Joey for the Tessa/Caitlin thing.

Wheels finally gets his car going and the three of them go for a ride around the block. Snake nearly refuses to get in the car as Wheels has had three beers.

Tessa starts feeling sick and discovers she's pregnant, even though they always used a condom. She books herself in for an abortion, and tries to talk to Joey, but he's not interested in her when she's not 'fun to be around'. She starts to realise that maybe he doesn't like her as much as she thinks he does and gets mad, giving him his birthday present (a t-shirt) and storming off.

Joey wakes up on the morning of his 19th birthday, wearing the t-shirt from Tessa, to the news that his parents are going to pay off his car. Tessa calls wanting to meet up and talk to him, but Joey puts her off, telling her that he's having dinner with his parents for his birthday, when he's actually having dinner with Caitlin. They go out for dinner, but don't stay at the restaurant very long as Caitlin shares her plans for the evening with him before dinner is served. She tries to be cryptic, but finds she needs to be very blunt. They go home and bonk, with Caitlin thinking that it's both of their first times. She admits that she's having second thoughts about going away to university. After Joey leaves, she puts her 'graduation present' on her ring finger.

Joey is told by his mother the next morning that Tessa called the night before. She calls again while they are talking and rips through him - she had called to sing happy birthday on his answering machine and was very suprised when his mother answered the call. She gets mad and hangs up on him. He calls back straight away, but she doesn't answer the phone.

BRONCHO' S PARTY

Caitlin talks to Lucy about having sex with Joey and also tells her that she's decided to stay home and get engaged, rather than go away to College. Lucy is not impressed. They (Lucy, Caitlin and Broncho) leave for Broncho's house at the lake.

Wheels, Joey and Snake leave for Broncho's in Wheel's dilapidated 'new' car. Snake finds out about Tessa, however gets no respite from the teasing, due to Joey and Caitlin's night together. Snake is still unimpressed by Joey's actions over the summer.

Once arrived at Broncho's party, Caitlin breaks the news to Joey that she's decided to stay and that they're engaged, meanwhile, Tessa back home, arrives at the clinic for her abortion appointment. Caitlin and Joey announce their engagement to everyone at the party. Lucy and Snake are both unimpressed by the news. Joey teases Snake about his failures in the girlfriend department. Snake retaliates by cryptically threatening to tell Caitlin about Tessa - you can tell Snake's close to breaking point. Wheels doesn't help by joining in the teasing and Snake picks a fight with him by insulting Wheels' car. Lucy convinces Wheels to take her to the shop to buy some chips, to get him away from Snake. Wheels finishes his beer and they leave.

Alexa and Simon have a stupid little fight. Joey comes into the house to see Snake sitting by himself, still mad from what occured earlier, and tells him off for threatening him. Snake starts yelling at Joey about Tessa, not knowing that Caitlin is behind him - and listening to every word he says. Caitlin then confronts Joey, while Snake wanders off, depressed. Caitlin then locks herself in a bedroom and refuses to come out.

Snake sits by the lake, feeling depressed while watching Amy and Allison playing in a canoe. The canoe overturns and Allison panics and starts drowning. Snake the lifeguard swims out to her, dives underwater to find her, and takes her back to shore. At this point everything gets too much for him and he breaks down in tears. Broncho comforts him, then looks around and asks "Has anyone seen Lucy?"

ACCIDENT SCENE

Lucy is seen all bandaged up on a stretcher being transferred into an ambulance. A kid, covered in a blanket is carried by an emergency worker who says he is dead. Wheels is okay, and the police charge him with drunk driving.

SUMMER'S END

Joey visit's Wheels in jail - he's been charged with criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing injury times two and drunk driving. He gets back into his "not my fault" routine, which he went through in earlier episodes, and attempts to lay the blame on Lucy for wanting chips, or the dead kid for not wearing a seatbelt. He can't understand why Snake won't talk to him, but Joey doesn't have any answers for him - he and Snake aren't talking.

Caitling visits Lucy in hospital. It's unknown whether she'll see again, or if she'll walk. Caitlin tells Lucy that she's decided to go away to College after all.

Joey goes to Snake's house, to try and convince him to talk to Wheels. Snake kind of apologises for Caitlin finding out about Tessa through him and leaves for University without saying much more.

THE WEDDING

Simon and Alexa get married. Simon's permed hair looks stupid. At the reception, we learn that Erica is staying in the Dominican Republic. Caitlin and Spike discuss University life, we discover that Lucy is doing much better.

Snake turns up with a girlfriend, to whom he introduces Joey as an "old friend". Joey shares the news that Wheels has decided to plead guilty and that he could be in jail for some time. Snake relents and says he might write to him.

Joey and Caitlin talk - Joey apologises, and says that he and Tessa don't talk anymore. Caitlin is glad she went away to university. The film ends with Joey and Caitlin dancing among the rest of the cast - as old friends.
